The Torch-Lighting Ceremony is the official ceremony concluding the Memorial Day for the Fallen Soldiers of the Wars of Israel and Victims of Actions of Terrorism and launching Independence Day celebrations. The ceremony takes place in Jerusalem and is attended by Israel’s state leaders. It is broadcast live across main radio and television channels, drawing millions of viewers. The Israel Prize Ceremony is another formal ceremony attended by Israel’s state leaders, where prizes are awarded to noteworthy persons across a range of fields. The Center for Communications at the Ministry of Culture and Sports is the government agency responsible for these two central ceremonies every Independence Day. As part of our regular media advisory service to the Ministry of Culture and Sports we have led the media strategy for both ceremonies and for telling the stories of Torch Lighters and of Israel Prize laureates. We have also directed the pool of journalists who covered the ceremony.
